The 31st Goodwood Festival of Speed has now concluded, and what a spectacular event it was! The Goodwood Estate was once again transformed into the world's largest celebration of motorsport. It brought together the titans of the automotive and racing worlds, set against the stunning backdrop of Goodwood House, showcasing an incredible array of supercars, bikes, and legendary Formula 1 machines.
Celebrating Formula 1's Legacy
A major highlight this year was the magnificent celebration of Formula 1's 75th anniversary. The iconic Hillclimb saw an unprecedented gathering of F1 cars, spanning both past and present eras. One of the most memorable moments was the "balcony moment," featuring no fewer than seven former F1 World Champions: Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti, Jacques Villeneuve, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Mika Häkkinen. Even Bernie Ecclestone made a surprise appearance, adding to the gravitas of this historic occasion.
Hillclimb Thrills and Records
As always, the Hillclimb was at the heart of the action, delivering electrifying speed and spectacle. Romain Dumas, driving the Ford Supertruck, dominated the Timed Shoot-Out, securing overall victory with a blistering time of 43.22 seconds, surpassing his own winning time from the previous year. While Max Chilton's outright record from 2022 remains untouched, the sheer performance of the vehicles on display was truly captivating. Notably, the new Bentley Bentayga Speed also made its mark, setting a new Hillclimb record for an ICE-powered production SUV, completing the run in just 55.8 seconds despite partially wet conditions.
