The BRIT Awards Move to Manchester for 2026

For the first time in its history, the BRIT Awards are leaving London and heading north to Manchester. The iconic celebration of British music is set to take place at the brand-new Co-op Live arena for both the 2026 ceremony.

After nearly five decades in the capital, and 15 years at The O2 arena, this move marks a significant new chapter for the prestigious awards show. The BRIT Awards 2026 will be held on Saturday, February 28th.

Manchester was chosen for its rich and deep musical roots. The city has produced some of the UK's most iconic artists and bands, including Oasis, The Smiths, Harry Styles, The Stone Roses, Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, Take That, The 1975, Aitch, Blossoms, and Courteeners. From the "Mad-chester" scene and the legendary Haçienda and Factory Records, to a thriving independent music community, Manchester has a legacy that makes it the perfect new home for the BRITs.

The move was spearheaded by Sony Music UK, who will be in charge of the show for the next three years. The BRIT Awards will continue to raise funds for The BRIT Trust, which supports the BRIT School in south London and the nationwide music therapy charity Nordoff & Robbins, among other music-related organizations.

This groundbreaking decision is seen as a way to invigorate the show and celebrate the exceptional musical heritage and creative energy that exists across the entire UK. As Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, stated, "After 48 years, it is great that this prestigious global event is about to arrive in the UK capital of music and culture."

This event also marks another milestone for Co-op Live, the UK’s newest live entertainment arena, which opened in May 2024 and has already drawn acclaim from fans and artists. It's a new era for the BRIT Awards, celebrating not only the very best of British and global music but also the diverse and vibrant talent from all corners of the country.
