Formula 1
As the world's most expensive sport, its economic effect is significant, and its financial and political battles are widely observed. The cars race at high speeds, greater than 320 km/h (200 mph) and with a massive global following the Grand Prix calendar generates a great interest for many.
Formula 1 as we know it started off in the 1950’s with its races held in the European arena and gradually built a reputation of risk and extravagance. Now with 19 races there are so many opportunities to attend an event and watch some of the finest motorsport in the world. The season kicks off in Melbourne and the teams then travel around Asia until starting the main European leg in May. This includes many of the tracks which made Formula 1 famous such as Monaco, Spa, Monza and Silverstone. The season nears its climax with new races in Austin and Sochi, the prestigious Interlagos and culminates in Abu Dhabi where double points will be on offer in a dramatic finish to the Championship.
