A major breakthrough happened on Sunday 14th May, as a world record was set for a women’s domestic match, after 77,390 fans watched Chelsea beat Man Untied in the FA Cup Final. This extraordinary figure topped last year’s attendance of 49,094 by a significant margin. The overwhelming response and support demonstrated the growing popularity and enthusiasm surrounding women’s football, highlighting the remarkable progress and increase recognition.

With a track record of constant success, the Lionesses are heading Down Under in their relentless pursuit of World Cup glory. England’s team stands as a formidable contender with a high chance of winning the tournament. However, it’s important to acknowledge that they have encountered a few injuries along the way, which may pose challenges to their campaign. Having reached the semi-finals in each of the previous World Cups, the Lionesses have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with on a global stage. Their past performances have created a sense of anticipation and excitement among fans, eager to witness their journey unfold once again.

The women’s international cricketing year began with a thrilling start as South Africa hosted a lively T20 World Cup, setting the stage for an exciting remainder of 2023.

Among the highly anticipated events the Women’s Ashes promises to captivate fans during the peak of the British Summer, starting on June 22. This year’s edition brings a ground-breaking change, as a five-day women’s Test will be held for the first time. The iconic Trent Bridge will serve as the venue for the series opener in this multi-format showdown. Additionally, cricket enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing Women play on some of England’s most prestigious grounds, including Edgbaston, Lords, and The Oval.

Although Australia will be the heavy weight favourites, England have the home benefit and will be using the crowd to their advantage.

The magnitude of the occasion was evident as a remarkable crowd of 58,498 spectators gathered to witness the Grand Slam decider between England and France, setting yet another record for women’s international rugby attendance. The atmosphere added an extra layer of excitement, creating memories to be cherished by both players and fans alike. With the World Cup not till 2025, we are ready to see what comes next.
