A guide to test series cricket
The term test series is used to refer the ultimate test of ability to play cricket for a long period, unlike the one-day international cricket matches. The matches are played by national representative teams consisting of the best players in a country with a ‘test status’ that has been determined by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Test cricket is a five-day event which has three sessions of two hours spread with a 40-minute break for lunch and a 20-minute break for tea in the afternoon per day. This tests the players’ limit of endurance and playing ability through the matches. The Ashes is a cup that is contested between England and Australia and it is the most popular and admired series of test cricket.
Test matches were first introduced on 15th March 1877 with a match between England and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground where Australia won by 45 runs. Australia won again by 45 runs when they played again to celebrate 100 years of test cricket on 12th -17th March 1977 at Melbourne. The ICC in October 2012 changed the playing terms for test matches and permitted them to be played day and night. The first game was then played between Australia and New Zealand on 27th November 2015 at the Adelaide Oval.
The cricket matches in 2016 between England and Sri Lanka start from May to 5th July while matches between England and Pakistan start from 14th July up to 7th September with an interval of five consecutive days. There are different venues that the matches will take place and these are:

Corporate Hospitality International cricket is played in three different formats in the UK and the DTB offers cricket hospitality packages for all 3 types. These are:
This is a very strategic form of the game which is characterized by aggressive field placements and at times unfriendly passages. Most players consider it as the truest test of a cricketer’s technique and skill. Matches are played over five consecutive days and it is played in white attire with the red ball.
Cricket One Day International cricket is a format that ensures that spectators are able to see both teams battling and fielding during a match and reaching a conclusion in one day. Both teams have 50 overs to score as many runs as possible. ODI changed cricket when they introduced colored uniform, white ball and games are played under floodlights. This format has become popular around the world with the creation of ICC Champions Trophy and Cricket World Cup.
Twenty20 is a new and shorter form of playing cricket and it’s similar in structure to ODI but has 20 overs to score as many runs as possible. The matches last for 3 hours and it’s fast becoming the most popular form of the game because of the lucrative money it, carnivore atmosphere and big hits. Client entertainment in cricket comes in several different packages and here are a number of options for tickets and hospitality. You can choose whether to spend a whole day at the match or ODI where you are able to talk to clients without missing the game or choose the T20 if you are less enthusiastic about cricket matches.
