There are two main Ruby Union tournaments each year, the Six Nations and the Autumn Internationals. In the Autumn Internationals the teams from the Six Nations, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Italy and Wales, take on some of the best rugby teams from the rest of the world. Most, but not all, of the Autumn Internationals are parts of three other tournaments for men, and another two for women.
These matches provide some of the best rugby games of the year, and if you are a rugby fan, there is nothing better than watching them live at the various stadiums. The games are played in stadiums in Europe, most of them in the UK, but hospitality is available at each venue, wherever they are situated.
The Guinness Series 2017
Ireland men won all three of their games in the 2017 Guinness Series, running up a record score of 38 – 3 against the Springboks in the first match. The second game was against Fiji, who they narrowly beat 23 – 20, and the last was against Argentina, which they won 28 – 19. Irelands women’s rugby team won the Dubai 7s Challenge Trophy for the second year running.
Old Mutual Wealth Series 2017
England men also had a clean sweep in the 2017 Old Mutual Wealth Series, beating Argentina 21 – 8, Australia 60 – 6 and Samoa 48 – 14. This means England have won 22 of their last 23 matches. England women’s team also had a great series, winning all three matches against Canada, 79 -5, 49 – 12 and 69 -19.
Under Armour Series 2017
Wales did not do quite as well as Ireland and England, winning two and losing two of the games they played in the Under Armour Series. They won against Georgia and South Africa, and lost against Australia and New Zealand. All the games were played at Cardiff where the ticket sales surpassed previous years. Rugby Union is becoming one of the most popular games in Wales, with record attendances for both the men’s and the women’s games.
Autumn Internationals 2018
England has already confirmed its matches for the 2018 Autumn Internationals. This year they are playing South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Japan. All games will be played at Twickenham Stadium. Ireland, Wales and Scotland have not yet confirmed any of their games, but there is no doubt they will all be thrilling matches.
