Every year, the hottest stars in UK television get together for the National Television Awards (NTA) show. The show returns to the O2 Arena on 25 January 2017, and we invite you to join DTB along with your special guests for this tremendous event. There is nothing quite like experiencing the NTA live and in person.
The 2017 show will be hosted by Dermot O'Leary, the well-known ITV and BBC radio presenter. He will be joined by guest presenters and musical acts on hand to provide additional entertainment. You and your guests are sure to enjoy an experience of a lifetime surrounded by the best-known celebrities in the country.
History Of The National Television Awards
The National Television Awards began in 1995. The first show was hosted on 30 August that year at the Wembley Conference Centre by broadcaster and journalist Eamonn Holmes. The following year, organisers changed the broadcast date to October and installed Trevor McDonald as the host. McDonald continued in that role for 13 straight years.
The show underwent another significant change in 2010 when it was moved from October to January. Dermot O'Leary also took over as host. Since 2010 the NTA has been held at the O2 Arena.
One of the most beloved aspects of the NTA is the fact that awards are given based purely on the votes of the public. The voting process is a two-stage one that begins with a long list of stars and shows based on BARB ratings. All the most watched shows are usually represented in this first stage.
Between September and January, fans have the opportunity to reduce the long list to a short list by way of their votes. The final shortlist is published in January, and the public is asked to vote again via telephone, post, or online. All votes are independently verified and tabulated.
