The British Open, St. Andrews
The Open Championship, often referred to as The British Open, is the oldest tournament in golf, first played in 1860 at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. As the final major of the season, The Open is celebrated for its links courses, unpredictable coastal conditions and traditions that have shaped the game for more than a century.
Rotating between venues including St Andrews, Royal Birkdale, Royal Troon and Royal Portrush, the championship has crowned many of golf’s greatest players, from Harry Vardon and Jack Nicklaus to Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The Claret Jug remains one of the sport’s most coveted trophies, symbolising excellence on golf’s grandest stage.
Beyond the championship itself, The Open delivers a distinctive atmosphere that blends top-level golf with the character and heritage of the British coastline.
Spectators experience dramatic seaside landscapes, passionate crowds and the distinctive challenge of links golf at its highest level.
