A well-known IT company was looking for a means of motivating their sales team with an annual event. They wanted to cultivate a spirit of adventure amongst their sales force and decided on a 3 day ski event. As they had only previously held incentive events in the UK, they were looking for a ski resort that could offer easy access from the airport, thus minimising the travelling time. The limited budget meant that the resort had to offer good quality 3 or 4 star accommodation, and since many of the participants were novice skiers, the range of slopes had to suit all abilities.

The one-hour transfer time from Geneva, the range of skiing and the budget of the event, pointed to Morzine as the most suitable destination. Morzine is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, which is one of the biggest ski areas in the world. Advanced skiers had a choice of skiing the black runs of Avoriaz, whilst the novices and beginners were able to learn the basics on the green runs, just behind the hotel.
Highlights & Challenges
• Participants needed to be transferred from the airport on evening flights in two separate groups, equipped with ski hire equipment and then reunited for dinner
• There were multiple arrivals and departures in addition to the main group
• Private hire of mountain restaurant followed by a torch lit descent
• Private hire of a local bar for a welcome party
• The need to meet the requirements of a range of ski abilities while keeping the budget for ski instructors to a minimum
