The Queens Club Championships is one of the most prestigious grass court tournaments dating back to 1884, making it one of the oldest tennis events
in the world. Second in importance only to Wimbledon in the grass court season, the quality of the draw and proximity to SW19 in terms of both time
and distance makes it a great opportunity to see many of the world’s top players in their first grass court appearances in the run up to Wimbledon.
The tournament, originally known as the London Grass Court Championships, moved to its current location at the Queen's Club in West Kensington in 1890,
having been previously been based at the London Athletic Club at Stamford Bridge. Its longevity has ensured that it remains one of the most popular
tennis events in the calendar.
The Queens Club Championships has been won by many of the modern day greats; players such as Pete Sampras, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray have all played
and won there, Andy Murray became the first British singles Champion for 71 years after his first win back in 2009.
Tournament Singles Champions
There are currently 6 players tied on 4 tournament wins, Anthony Wilding and Roy Emerson were first to win on 4 occasions, with John McEnroe, Boris Becker,
Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick all tied on 4 wins apiece since the start of the open era. Andy Murray probably stands the best chance of challenging
that group sitting one place behind on 3 tournament wins.
Entertaining with Queens Club Championships Hospitality
The Queens Club Championships was voted "ATP 250 Tournament of the Year" by the players of the ATP World Tour at the 2013 awards. In 2015 it was upgraded
to an ATP World Tour 500 series event which should only improve the quality of the tournament.
Former champions including Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick and Andy Murray have all described the immaculate courts as being arguably ‘the best in the world’
and with the history of the Queens club as being the spiritual home of racket sports it really is a great place to come and watch top class tennis.
Tennis tickets and hospitality is extremely popular and can be a relatively expensive way to entertain clients, however hospitality at Queens is relatively
affordable in comparison to Wimbledon and the intimate layout of the tournament ensures that your guests have a great day out and are never far from
the players. With a broad range of ticket and hospitality options through the summer tennis events we definitely recommend our clients to the Queens
Club Championships Hospitality packages we offer.
