England v Samoa (Old Mutual Wealth Internationals)

Twickenham | 25th Nov 2017

Samoa are famed for playing hard hitting, fast paced rugby, particularly dangerous in counter attacking scenarios. England are well acquainted with the pacific islanders having regularly played them in World Cup campaigns and past Autumn test matches.

A large proportion of Samoan players compete for English clubs in the AVIVA Premiership so are much better drilled and technically sound than in previous years. England’s own wrecking ball centre, Manu Tuillagi, is of Samoan descent and has four elder brothers who have all represented their native country at senior international level.

The Samoans play in royal blue and just as New Zealand are famed for the Haka, Samoa have their own pre match war dance. Known as the Siva Tau it is performed by all of Samoa’s national sport teams.

Samoa first toured the UK after impressively reaching the quarter finals in the 1991 and 1995 World Cup campaigns. Now a regular occurrence they continually look to compete and break into the top flight of world rugby.
