The England rugby squad has been announced for the Autumn Internationals, starting in a couple of weeks. With New Zealand, South Africa, Samoa and Australia taking on England, the team needs to be at its best; this will be the last they meet the teams before the Rugby World Cup 2015.
Stuart Lancaster has put together a fantastic squad which involves three uncapped players taking on the Southern Hemisphere teams this November at Twickenham. With George Kruis and Semesa Rokoduguni stepping up for the first time, and Calum Clark making a return to the squad, can they be the fresh blood that the squad needs?
Captaining the team for the 3rd year is Chris Robshaw, who only has 28 caps for England, and only had 1 cap when he was made captain in 2012. Lancaster has said that Robshaw “continues to lead from the front,” and with a lot of other players moving up the ranks at their clubs to become captains, it seems like the England squad is “building a team of leaders who can take England forward”.
Manu Tuilagi, Chris Ashton and Danny Cipriani have missed the cut this year, with Tuilagi out due to injury along with Dan Cole, Tom Youngs and Tom Johnson.
With more names set to be added to the squad after the weekend’s intensive European games, who would you like to see in the squad? Do you think there’s anyone vital missing from the team?
